Clairmont

A small shaded picnic area beneath a stand of red pine. Cross-country skiing opportunities in winter. Located 3 km east of Kingston; off Hwy 101 between Exits 16 and 17.

Accessible Facilities

Clam Harbour Beach

A long, wide sandy beach; supervised (July-August weekends only, STC). Visitors can enjoy a picnic in a field on top of a bluff. Also some cross country skiing in winter. Located 10 km (6 mi) south of Lake Charlotte.

Cleveland Beach

A sister beach to Queensland, offering a sandy shoreline and (unsupervised) swimming opportunities. Limited parking. Located east of Hubbards (Hwy 103, Exit 6).

Coldbrook

Enjoy a picnic under a canopy of pine. Located about 1 km west of various take-out restaurants found at Hwy 101; Exit 14

Cole Harbour - Lawrencetown

Provincially and regionally significant coastal park system; includes regionally significant beach parks, proximity to rails to trails corridor, Trans Canada Trail passes through Cole Harbour Heritage Park. Beaches feature sand and cobble stretches on the Atlantic coast, with adjacent hiking trails.

Small park with access to the LaHave River. Adjacent LaHave River Trail. Community operated.

Cottage Cove

One of few public access points to the Bay of Fundy along this stretch of coastline. Located 13 km (8 mi) northwest of Middleton.

Crystal Crescent Beach

Three white-sand crescent beaches located at the mouth of Halifax Harbour. Boardwalks to the first two beaches. Trailhead for a hike to Pennant Point, 10 km (6 mi) which provides interesting birding and wildlife viewing.

Dalem Lake

This park surrounds a small lake and is shaded by hardwood. Beach is white sand. A 2.2 km (1.5 mi) hiking trail encircles the lake. Birding, wildlife watching and sport fishing opportunities. Located at Boularderie East, 4 km (2.5 mi) north off Highway 105.

Dollar Lake Day Use

Quiet woodland setting offering a wide range of outdoor opportunities, including boating(boat launch on-site), canoeing, water-skiing, and fishing.

A beautiful sandy beach at the north end of the lake offers fresh water swimming.  Supervised swimming in July and August. 

There is limited parking at this very popular location.

Dominion Beach

A 1.5 km (1 mi) sandy beach offering supervised swimming (July – August/STC). Boardwalks provide access to the beach and protect the dunes. Wind surfing opportunities.

A boat launch for the Bras d’Or Lake providing some beach access.

East River

A picturesque stop at a sheltered ocean cove on Mahone Bay. Located in East River, 1 km (0.5 mi) east of Hwy 103; Exit 7.

Accessible Facilities

Eatonville

With towering 185-metre high cliffs, sheltered coves, and exciting wildlife viewing, you’ll want to be sure to bring along your camera. Choose between two user-friendly trails that will let you behold some of the nation’s best scenery.

Elderbank

One of few public access points on the lower Musquodoboit River. Located 29 km (18 mi) north of Musquodoboit Harbour.

Ellenwood Lake Day Use

Nestled between two lakes, offering a walking trail in a hardwood setting, and opportunities for sport fishing, paddling and swimming.  The freshwater beach is life-guarded in July and August.

The quiet beauty of nature is evident for all those who enjoy the outdoors.

Picnic park located on Falls Lake. Carry-in launch point for canoes/kayaks, sport fishing. Limited cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Five Islands Day Use

Rising majestically from the shores of the Bay of Fundy featuring 90 metre (300 ft.) sea cliffs overlooking the world's highest tides. 

A spectacular setting for hiking, beachcombing, rock collecting and clam digging.

Fox Harbour

A sandy beach with warm water on the shore of Fox Harbour. Located at Wallace, 4 km (2.5 mi) north of Route 6.

Glenwood

A quiet place on Rickers Lake, bordering Hwy 103. Picnic tables scattered beneath hardwoods with view of lake. Located at the junction of Hwy 3 and Hwy 103.

Graves Island Day Use

Connected to the mainland by a short causeway, Graves Island is typical of many of the small islands found along Nova Scotia's Atlantic coast. 

Green Hill

The elevation provides magnificent views of the farmlands below. Off Highway 104. 9 km (6 mi) east of West River.

Groves Point

A sand and pebble beach and warm salt water. Picnic in the field or at tables under a softwood stand. Located 5 km (3 mi) south of Highway 105, before crossing St. Andrew's Channel.

Gulf Shore

A popular public beach with warm water, and a picnic park overlooking the Northumberland Strait. Located 5 km (3 mi) north of Pugwash.
