Due to public health measures, provincial campgrounds are only open to residents of the four Atlantic Provinces: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Visitor Restrictions:

  • Due to public health measures, provincial campgrounds are only open to residents of the four Atlantic Provinces: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador. 
  • Only campers with reservations will be allowed to enter campgrounds. 
  • Drive-up or walk-in campers will not be permitted to enter campgrounds or stay overnight.
  • Campsite permits can be issued for up to 6 people. No more than 6 people shall occupy a campsite unless they are members of a family unit.
  • No visitors will be permitted in campgrounds. Registered campers only.
  • No group camping sites
  • Provincial campgrounds will operate with a reduced number of campsites available to ensure physical distancing requirements are met.

  • No yurts (Whycocomagh) or cabins (Cape Chignecto) for entire season
  • No double sites 
  • No overflow sites
When you make a reservation, you will be asked for the following information:
  • Park Name
  • Arrival and departure dates
  • Number of people in your party
  • Size and type of camping equipment
  • Eligibility for Senior/Veterans discount of $2.35 per night
  • Credit card number and expiry date (debit cards and pre-paid credit cards are not accepted by the system)
  • List of preferred parks and campsites

Please Note:

  • First time users will be asked to create a Client Profile that will help when making future reservations.
  • The information collected in your Client Profile will be strictly confidential and will not be disclosed to outside parties.
  • Reservation service fee: $9.00 per reservation (non-refundable).
  • Change/Cancellation fee: $7.00 fee per reservation (non-refundable).
  • All fees are payable at the time of booking.
  • Check-out for all parks is 1:00 pm. You may check-in anytime after 1:00 pm
  • If you cancel before 1pm on the date of the reservation you are given a full refund (minus the booking fee and cancellation fee)
  • Booking for group camping areas opens May 1st for parks with a designated group camping area.
  • Group camping booking are not accepted through the website, call centre, or the yellow phones. 
  • Bookings must be made by contacting the local Department of Lands and Forestry District Office.
We consider the following when reviewing group applications: availability of the group area, size of the group, ability of the site to handle the group’s camping equipment, vehicle parking, potential use conflicts with other groups, and any problems encountered during previous visits. Restrictions may be placed on the number of people or cars allowed on a group campsite.
The consumption of alcohol or cannabis is not permitted in designated group camping areas.
At Serviced Parks

If you have a reservation:

  • Check-in at the Administration Building.
  • At check-in, you will be asked to provide the names of those in your camping party.
  • This information is needed for security and emergency purposes.

If you don’t have a reservation:

  • Check-in at the Administration Building.
  • At check-in, you will be asked to provide the names of those in your camping party.
  • This information is needed for security and emergency purposes.

Arriving after hours:

If the gate is open:

  • Enter and set up on a vacant site
  • Register at 9 am when the Administration Building opens
  • If you arrive after midnight, you can camp on a site for one night.
    • One night because the site you choose may be on reserve for future nights.

If the gate is locked:

  • Camp in the parking lot overnight
  • Register at 9 am when the Administration Building opens

At Self-Registration Parks

If you have a reservation:

  • Go directly to your campsite.
  • If you arrive before 1 pm, you may set up camp as soon as your site is vacant.
  • If you need a gate passcode, use the yellow phone at the kiosk. 
  • At Porters Lake and The Islands you must arrive before the staff leave at 11:00 pm in order to enter the park.

If you don’t have a reservation:

  • Select a registration envelope and use the yellow phone to connect with the call centre (9am to 11pm).
  • They will tell you which sites are available and how to complete the envelope, including how much you owe for camping fees.
  • Credit card payments will be taken over the phone by the call centre agent.
  • If you are paying with cash/cheque place it in the envelope, remember to seal the envelope. 
  • Deposit the envelope in the Drop Box. 

Please Note:

  • Park staff or campground hosts cannot accept payments or make change.
  • The park administration building is closed.
  • Debit cards & pre-paid credit cards are not accepted.
  • No cash is kept on site.
  • No reservation fee is charged when using the yellow phone to register for a stay at the park or to extend your current stay.
  • The reservation fee will be applied if using the yellow phone to make a future reservation at the park.

At-Park Mobile Registration:

Register with a mobile device if a sign at the park displays an access code (parks with wireless coverage).

  • Enter the website address printed on the park sign
  • Enter the location Access Code shown on the sign OR select the “Use my Location” link on the main self-registration page
  • Enter the details of your camping trip:
    • number of nights, equipment type, party size
  • Select an available site within the park
  • Enter your contact information
  • Choose your method of payment
  • Once the system receives your payment, your will see a successful check-in message that includes your permit and site number.
    • An email with this same information is sent to the email address you provided.

If you need to make changes or cancellations to current bookings or wishing to manage future reservations, you will need to use the Yellow Phone.

Refund will be given for following reasons:
a. Department closes or evacuates the park for public safety reasons;
b. Family emergency or other extenuating tragic circumstances;
c. Recall to work;
d. Camper with generator for medical reasons cannot be accommodated in the park; or
e. Chief/Assistant Caretaker may issue a refund in response to comment filed by a client.


2. Refunds will not be given for inclement weather, insects, or enroute vehicle breakdowns.

If you cancel before 1pm on the date of the reservation you are given a full refund (minus the booking fee and cancellation fee)

There is a $7.00 fee for cancelling your reservation, and the $9.00 reservation fee paid when you originally booked is non-refundable.
